Shoe Shopping

This weekend I took the 'younger' girls shoe shopping.
I have to say younger and get out of the habit of calling them the 'little' girls.

I don't recall ever being able to do this with the three older girls. Most of the time we were doing well to keep 8 kids in one pair of good shoes and one pair of play shoes.

But upcoming events required a trip to the discount shoe store. In a week we all head to Nebraska for a wedding and weddings warrant new shoes. So we got shoes for wedding outfits, shoes for the reception, and shoes for casual wear.

When the boys found their way out of Lowes and met up with us, there was a mountain of shoes piled high on the checkout counter and their eyes were as big as a Kettle Grill.

They were obviously relieved that they came at the tail end of the shopping adventures and didn't have to endure the entire process.

The excitement and enthusiasm over discount shoes was fun to watch. I wish I would have had this experience with the older girls at one point as they were growing up.

As hard as we have always tried to be equal and fair as we raise a large family, there are just some things that you can't go back and make equal or fair.
