Homecoming

Tonight is the Homcoming dance at West Salem. I have three teens making plans to get all dressed up and dance the night away.
This will be Jacquie's first high school dance.
It makes me wonder where the years have gone.
It seems like yesterday that I was dressing her up for her baptism.
I have been raising children for 28 years. Many more years than I was single. I don't know any other life and I can't imagine anything else I would rather do.

I know I'm not finished and perhaps never will be, but the day to day hands on chaos of laundry, details, runny noses, and schedules are lightening up.

Life is quite different with four teens than it was with four pre-teens and four toddlers/infants.

I never understood people talking about the sadness of being 'empty-nesters'. I always thought it sounded wonderful.

But as the house gets more and more quiet on the evenings when the kids are out with friends, I am getting a glimpse of what the future will look like.

I am working on getting in shape so Jeff and I can do more biking, hiking, and hopefully ... kayaking is in our future as well.
