Summertime in the City of Kearney

Today began bright and early with the pitter patter of little feet overhead.
In spite of the lack of sleep, it was fun to get up and watch my teenage girls struggling with the enormous amount of energy exuding from their two young nephews.

At lunch time, I stumbled upon some dear friends

and enjoyed a bit more adult conversation over lunch. It was a nice change from the Disney tunes I endured the previous days. :-)

The afternoon was spent sunning and swimming at the pool. We all enjoyed the warmth of the summer sun in spite of the brisk wind.
This evening was a favorite meal of Godfather's taco pizza shared with lots of family friends,

followed by watching fireflies light up the evening sky.

The kids had fun catching them.
It was a great evening!
I was surprised to find myself all alone at 10pm babysitting two very sleepy grandsons. But I didn't mind at all knowing my daughters were all out enjoying the company of friends they hadn't seen in such a long time.
I am grateful for Matt and his taking the time to stop by for a visit. I enjoyed having time for just the two of us to catch up and share where life's paths have taken us in the past several months and talk more about our live's transitions.
I also had some uninterrupted time with my son-in-law Justin.
That was a rare treat.

All in all a very wonderful day.
Busy, but wonderful.
Now I find myself tired, yet still unwinding and trying to quiet my mind and my thoughts.
It's quite late by Central time standards and I know I'll be up early again tomorrow.
I will miss the help of my girls, who are spending the night at the McKelveys, with the 2 bundles of energy at dawns first light!
So no more reflecting or blogging for me tonight!
